I have a full weekly schedule of daily work related tasks and activities. Recently, my mother in law was hospitalized for several days. My husband and I were actively involved with care and support. We were overwhelmed in staying with her in the Hospital, and helping her manage in her home upon her release. I was beyond exhausted. The thought of work was daunting. I knew I needed to recharge.
I already knew what was expected of me in regards to work. I have two Supervisors that are sympathetic and understanding. However, both have stated that family illness and troubles are guaranteed but we can not lose sight of our work responsibilities and commitments. I will never forget the heart felt conversation I had with my Supervisor while my Dad was dying . He honored how hard I was working with one particular client, and was sensitive in helping me keep a healthy balance between work and family. In processing with my Supervisor , I was able to schedule time to complete work tasks while doing what my family needed. I studying for my license for Health Insurance at the same time.
I spent one night with my mother in law upon her return home from Hospital. I was exhausted. My phone and my iPad were dead. My mother in law was feeling better and had more energy than me. My mother in law understood when I told her I needed to go home and recharge.
I plugged my phone and iPad into their charging stations. I exercised for almost an hour, which cleared my mind. I texted my Supervisor and told him I would be working from home. I followed up with clients, and scheduled one session to discuss Health Insurance. I filled my mind with some refreshing pod casts and began preparing for upcoming networking events. I showed up for networking later refreshed and recharged.
When I am recharged ,I make better financial decisions. I am more hopeful about business when I am rested. I have more physical and emotional energy to devote to my clients when I recharge.
