Weathering the Storm

I have lived in two states that are known for inclement weather. In Colorado, there are blinding snow storms. Cars are often stranded due to snow and ice. In South Carolina, there are winds, hurricanes and monsoons. In both states, you need to be prepared and have a place of refuge where you have a better chance of safety.

I think about the storms of life we have to confront. It is a guareentee that the storms will come. We need a plan for the storms. As an Opportunity Money Coach , I am sharing personal experiences and actions . An emergency savings account of at least $1000 is needed for every household, which is only to be used for health, car and house care emergencies.

In April/ 2022, I had a week full of emergencies. My husband needed immediate hip surgery, our central air/ heating system in home died and I was told my mom was dying and I needed to fly to Colorado from South Carolina as soon as possible. I was able to pay the amount needed for husband’s surgery, paid cash for central air conditioning/ heating system and made it to Colorado before my mother passed away. Fortunately, I had no debt . I had money stashed in a liquid savings account .

I am watching many families struggle with financial storms. As an Opportunity Money Coach, I have understanding and compassion. I coach families about how they can prepare for a financial crisis and survive. I know families can take advantage of opportunities that can lead to freedom. Many people , like me, have a lower than average income. I had an isolated opportunity to pay off all my debt to include mortgage and I took it. I guide individuals and families into having financial freedom, which means you can weather the storm. Reach out to me at moncoach23@gmail.com Karen Skelton
