The ideas in this blog come from the book “ Who is in Your Room?” by Dr. Ivan Misner, Founder of Business Network International, BNI;I shared valuable insight inspired by the book.
The book invited me to explore my personal values. My values determine how I do business . My values determine my business activities as well as my clients.
I have worked hard to achieve financial freedom . I will never enter into any activities that require more cash than what I have in my budget. Going into debt is not an option.
I place a lot of value on good qualities in relationships. I am ethical in that I will never engage in anything that violates the legal requirements of my job. I set boundaries , which makes it more comfortable for me to work. I am honest, whether I am gaining a client or setting a boundary by declining a request.
I know the issues that are outside of my comfort zone. I have little tolerance for people who are rude. I can sense if some one is disinterested in my business and what I offer clients and I choose to disengage. I can not assist people adequately when they are desperate or demanding.
Who is in my room? These are my actual clients , team members and mentors that are supportive of me. These are people that value financial freedom and business ethics. I trust those who are in my room. Those in my room respect me.
Who is not in my room? If some one is rude or disrespectful of my boundaries, they will not enter my room. I do not pursue anyone who has no need or interest for my business product, so they are not in my room. I can not adequately assist anyone who is not respectful of my boundaries and they are not in my room.
Dr. Misner speaks openly about having a Doorman who determines who is allowed in your room. Your values are actually the Doorman. For more discussion on money management and values in business, schedule a session with me at www.peacefullifefinancial.com Karen Skelton Money Coach
